Beginner's to Battle Pirates. Part 2

What to research?

If you have not yet read the part 1 http://ouchbattlepirates.blogspot.com/2016/04/beginning-guide-to-playing-part-1.html

The first thing I like to research is new ships. Now that your naval lab is at level 2, you can research the longship. The longship is a good ship due to its two weapon slots compared to the single of the gunboat. Its best to replace your gunboats in your fleet with longships, as longships can deal damage faster and survive longer. While you are researching the longship, head over to the weapons lab and research thud cannons. Thud cannons are basic cannons with a medium range, and short reload.

Speaking of weapons and damage.

Types of damage and weapons

There are 6 different types of damage in the game; ballistic, penetrating, explosive, radioactive, concussive, and corrosive. For now we will focus on four types, ballistic, penetrating, explosive and concussive.

Ballistic

Ballistic weapons are cannon firing weapons by nature, however any weapon type can have extra damage of a different type. Thud cannons and ripper cannons are the only ballistic type weapons you can research at the moment. Thud cannons are known for long range and accuracy. Ripper cannons are known for reload and damage.

Penetrating

Penetrating weapons are missile type weapons, with Rapier and Cutlass missiles being the only ones available to research currently. Cutlass is known for range and damage, while the Rapier is littler Cutlass by all means.

Explosive

Explosive type damage is created by...you guessed it...explosive weapons. Such as Mortars and Rockets. With Peacemaker and Diplomat mortars, the Diplomat being a little version of the Peacemaker, and the Hydra and Maelstrom rockets, with the Hydra being a little version of the Maelstrom.

        Concussive

Concussive weapons are torpedoes and depth chargers. With Havok Torpedoes being the only concussive weapon you can research right now. Torpedoes are special weapons, as they can only be put in a weapon's slot that is marked for underwater weapons, as the torpedo is an underwater weapon. With all submarines being able to use them, along with Gunboats, Skirmishers, Longboats and Arbiters, for researchable ships.
